I like grocery shopping. It's sometimes frustrating not being able to find that exact thing to use, but substitutions are fun and exciting as well! I decided to make chicken and mashed potatoes. I know, impressive ;-)
So... get lots of groceries... well, enough for today anyway. Roll them home in my super cool roll-y bag thing. (Side note: they don't give out grocery bags, you have to buy them, so it's just easier taking your own bags and it's alot more eco-friendly... and cheaper ;-)) Roll home my stuff and start in the kitchen. Bleach the potatoes, crunch up the potato chips, boil water, peal potatoes, boil potatoes; coat the chicken in potato chips and bake. Mash the potatoes, stir in butter; et volia! Lunch. chicken strips and mashed potatoes with a side of dragon fruit. Not bad if I do say so myself.
This week was great... not in the life is so great way, but in the way of I'm learning so much. I was super stressed and overloading myself with stuff and expectations of myself. I was able to talk to some friends and yarp with them and it's been so much better. They gave me a good wake up call and I just released the expectations that I was setting myself up with. I am here as a teacher, I am teaching my kids. But if I'm not loving my kids, and I'm getting so caught up in other things, then I'm not being as effective as I could be. Without love, I'm just a clanging symbol or resounding gong. My purpose is to love and educate... in that order. They will learn, whether I'm teaching or not. I want to make sure that the children are seeing something bigger than myself, and not me running around being busy.
So going into this week, I'm looking forward to loving. To coaching Junior Varsity Volleyball (don't laugh too hard). To starting a reading program. To meeting the parents at open house. To learning, in so many ways. And to looking to my Creator in everything.
I'm official ;-)
